Younique mascara review

I'm normally kind of a brand whore when it comes to my mascara but my friend had one of those parties so I wanted to support her...Also I was pretty curious about this mascara everyone is talking about. I gave this a try mostly because  I'm allergic to the glue used for fake eyelashes.
*if anyone has this problem and found a glue that worked for them let me know!!!

Younique comes in a case with 2 different tubes. One is the gel and one is the fiber extensions.

Ok so first I put on my regular mascara as a base. Right now I'm using Too Faced-Better than Sex. (I told you.. brand whore) no matter what mascara I use I always put several layers. So I started by putting on the gel all over the top lashes (both sides) and then started coating the fibers all over. You have to pat it on instead of swiping like a normal mascara so the fibers don't all collect at the ends.

This is what it looks like with one side done with younique and one side with designer. There's a pretty big difference in the thickness of the lashes and a little extra length.

Any normal day I could get away with just one coat of Younique, but this particular night I was going out so I wanted it to make more of a statement and give more of a false eyelash look. For my second layer I put it on starting in the middle and concentrating on the outer corner so I have more of a winged effect. I also put one light layer on my bottoms again starting in the middle and going slightly heavier towards the corner. I think this gives the top and bottom a little more balance.
I have to say the results were prettyyyy awesome.

Some things I liked:
•The color is super black, if you can't tell in the picture it's actually a deeper black than the designer brand.
•They stayed on all night. I was worried about having huge eyelashes falling in my eye all night but it wasn't that bad. A few minor things but I'll get to that later. I sprayed my eyes with hairspray to keep my eyeshadow in the right spot as well so that might have something to do with it.
•The extensions aren't TOO hard to get off however they do require a little extra effort. Not nearly what I expected though.

Downsides:
•After I was done applying a few little hairs were gathered under my eyes but that was a quick clean up.
•Because the eyelashes are so heavy now they straightened out a lot. I was told to use a blow dryer on the lowest setting and blow them upwards but it honestly didn't work any better than physically pushing them up with my finger. I think next time I will push them up after each layer I apply while they are still wet. DO NOT I repeat Do not use an eyelash curler!!! They will stick to it and you will look like you are balding in one eye! Yep, I made that mistake haha.

All in all I really love this product. At $30 it's a pretty steep price if you are a drugstore mascara buyer. However, I really do think it's worth the price.

Attention Blondes!!

For those times when you and your hairstylist just can't seem to make your schedules agree ( like me now. Grrrr). I noticed there aren't many resources for how to cover up or camouflage those (GASP) roots. Now keep this in mind I'm not saying you are going to look like you are fresh from the salon but it will however make you not look so... Well you know.

I used John Frieda Sheer Blonde go blonder! Controlled lightening spray and a comb to tease.

Spray on roots in 1 inch sections on the top half of your hair and blow dry. You can repeat as many times a you want but I only did it twice because its peroxide and I didn't want to murder my hair. This took it from a dark brown to medium brown which definitely made the roots much less noticeable.

Now its time to tease! When your roots are lifted it makes the dark-light less noticeable. It also helps when your part isn't completely straight

This is me before (yuck!)

And after! Like I said its not perfect but it's not the first thing you look at either. I also put some lightener on the front piece so you can see what the product would do to already blonde hair.

Keep in mind it is VERY important to moisturize your hair after using any kind of lightener.

Now... I'm going to get my butt to the salon.
